Olivia Palermo for Ciate - Hutch review

When Olivia Palermo was announced as a guest creative director for Ciate, my bank balance winced. As the focus for quite a major girl crush, combining OP and one of my favourite nail polish brands seemed like a sure-fire recipe for success.

Olivia will be creating a small series of capsule collections (4 in total), the first of which has just hit the shelves. There are only three shades in the line-up which focus on classic, wearable shades with a really modern edge.

Before I even start talking about the polish, take a look at the packaging! These paint pots come in a heavy cream card box, complete with gold edging and the Oliva Palermo logo. The bottle is similar to Ciate’s standard paint pots, but with a luxury gold handle and design on the glass. They’ve definitely gone for more a of luxury theme there – it feels a little bit vintage, but stylish and definitely helps to justify the more premium price tag (more on that in a minute).

There are three shades to choose from: ‘Hutch’ – a vibrant red, ‘Nantucket’ –a bright coral, and ‘Sundays’ – the perfect nude. They’re all super easy shades to wear and ones that I know I’d get a lot of use out of.

I’ve been testing out Hutch which Olivia describes as her ‘go to red’ and I can definitely see why. This is a rich, heavily pigmented polish in a very flattering, classic red shade. It’s super glossy, even without a top coat, and almost looks gel-like with one added. The formula for these features a special dual polymer mesh lock technology that prolongs the colour wear and also helps to strengthen nails while you wear them.

Hutch has been wearing for around three days without chipping on me, so pretty average, but I’m absolutely loving the high shine finish and nice wide brush.

At £17 each these are definitely a premium product, but one I honestly think it’s worth investing in. Like the Louboutin polishes of last year, Olivia Palermo for Ciate feels like a bit of a collector’s item, but one that you’ll want to use all the time.

You can find the range online from Ciate now.

Do you like the sound of this new collection from Ciate?
