May 2014 Harper's Bazaar Birchbox UK review

Birchbox UK are a monthly subscription service that send you a box of beauty goodies every month for just £10 (plus postage). This month, they've teamed up with glossy magazine Harper's Bazaar to come up with a box packed full of products that will help prepare you for summer and the outdoor adventures it brings. If you want to avoid any 'what's in my box spoilers', look away now!

I think this box is a fantastic one. It's jam-packed full of high end brands, and there's even a generous 'lifestyle extra', making it one of my favourite boxes yet. So, what's in my May Birchbox?

Harper's Bazaar Birchbox UK May 2014 contents

Soigne Nail Lacquer in Pomegranate - full size - Soinge are a new nail polish brand that promise to offer non-toxic formulas in classic shades. Mine is a slightly pink toned red, and is a nice surprise. I love nail polish, so it's always great to find out about new brands and considering it would normally cost £11 is great value to find in my Birchbox.

Benefit They're Real Mascara - luxury trial size - I have to be honest, I don't like this mascara (it clumps on me and is a nightmare to get off), but if you're a fan, or you haven't yet tried it, this is a great sample to have. I've seen this size on sale for £9.50 in Boots and it's about half the size of the regular mascara.

Aromatherapy Associates Relax Light Bath and Shower Oil - 3ml sample - Aromatherapy Associates are one of my favourite brands so I'm really excited to see this in the box. Yes the sample is very small, but a 50ml bottle of their bath oils normally costs £39, so it's a good way to test out the brand before making the jump to a full size. This is about enough for one bath (maybe two if you're careful) and the lavender and ylang ylang smell will perfume your entire bathroom. Yay!

Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo - 50ml - Dry shampoos are an essential as far as I'm concerned, and this one from Philip Kingsley is the perfect size to pop in your bag. It doesn't leave that tell tale grey look to hair, and leaves it feeling fresh.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and Muslin Cloth - a bit of a cult classic, this 30ml Cleanse and Polish will give you a nice introduction to Liz Earle's infamous hot cloth cleanser. It also comes with a muslin cloth to help remove it, and is a great travel size if you're planning a holiday soon.

Imedeen Derma One Vitamins - 15 day supply - the 'lifestyle extra' in this month's box, this is a generous sample of Imedeen's Derma One supplement. This is aimed at improving skin quality, and I think it's a really nice addition to the box. One month's supply usually costs £37.99, so this two week packet is worth almost £19!

All in all I'm really impressed with this box. I'll use everything in it (minus the mascara), and I think it contains a great range of brands. There's also a mini beauty magazine and a subscription offer to Harper's Bazaar which I'm quite tempted to use.

Do you like the look of this month's Birchbox?

  1. I do like the look of this. It's a shame you don't get on with the Benefit Mascara, I just received it as a present and I absolutely love it, best I've tried. I don't fancy repurchasing myself though, as it is a bit pricey!

  6. I've been dying to see what's in this month's box as I find usually if they do a one off box with an amazing design the contents are usually amazing as well. I love They're Real and am a big fan of nail varnish so those are great. I really want to try Cleanse & Polish and anything by Philip Kingsley so they're also great. I can't use lavender and am not a fan of receiving supplements in beauty boxes, so those items aren't so good for me, but in general a fab box! x

  9. This looks like a decent box - I'd use pretty much everything in it except for the oil. I've been wanting to try C&P for a while now! Still deciding on whether I can stomach a subscription, it seems to be hit and miss!
