The best brow products for all budgets

2015 for me has been the year I got my brow on. I’m just going to come out and admit it – for the past ten years I’ve had a fringe and fringe + blonde invisibrows = lazy when it comes to brow maintenance. That was the case until a few weeks before Christmas when I had my first taste of the good brow life with a bit of a brow-over from HD Brows. And that for me, was the game changer.

Since then, I’ve made it my mission to discover the best brow products for all budgets. From powders to gels and from £5 to £25 I’ve got you covered. And without further ado, I present the brow heroes!

the best brow products for all budgets

Budget brows
Collection's Eyebrow Kit* (not pictured) – at £3.99 this brow palette is fantastic value. It features several shades of powders and a clear gel, so it can be used by pretty much everyone and while I’d recommend buying a decent brush to use with this, the powders themselves have good staying power and decent pigmentation.
GOSH Defining Brow Gel* – a seriously simple brow solution, I love this mascara style gel from GOSH. A quick swipe through your brows will add colour, plus help to shape them at the same time, making it a great option if you’re in a hurry first thing in the morning. If like me your brows are blonde, I’d recommend going for the 002 shade which is more grey in tone and a better fit for blondes. £4.99

For fair brows
Finding a natural looking option for lighter brows can be a bit of a b*tch. Everything often seems too dark or too warm-toned to make a good match. Well, not anymore! Both Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz* and Elizabeth Arden have great quality brow crayons in the perfect shades for lighter brows. The design of them also means it’s really easy to get a natural looking brow, as the crayon shape means you can fill them in using small, soft strokes that mimic brow hairs. HD Brows also do a fantastic range of products in lighter shades – my favourite is the Colourfix in Foxy* which is another mascara style product that can be swept through your brows in a flash for natural definition and colour.

Brow tamers
RMK brow gel* – this clear gel is perfect if you’re blessed with good brows that just need a little tidy, as it helps to hold them in place all day with no crispy feeling. You could also use it to help set a powder product in place – a quick sweep across the brows and you’re ready to go. £18
Tweezerman tweezers – Tweezerman really do make the best tweezers I’ve ever tried. There are several different shapes to target different types of hairs and the massive range of colours and patterns makes it easy to match your pair to your makeup bag. These might seem a little pricey (almost £23), but they really are a good investment as a pair should last you for years. Unless your other half happens to steal them to remove splinters from his mountain bike wheel. *grumpy face*

Brow powders
Not to be overlooked, brow powders are great if you’re more confident at filling in your natural brows or fancy something a little more bold. Illamasqua’s Brow Cakes are fantastic for this – they can be applied with a flat brow brush to create pretty much any shape you like and they won’t budge all day. Urban Decay’s Brow Box* Is also a great little kit to pop in your handbag – it has a mix of powders and creams (it also comes in light and dark shades to help tailor it further) plus some mini tweezers, so there’s everything you could need all packed into one tiny box.

For brows that need a growth spurt
Over done it on the threading? Had a teenage incident that means you’re a bit lacking in the brow department? You need to get some RapidBrow* in your life. This stuff is seriously amazing. A quick whizz through your brows with this will leave you with thicker, fuller-looking brows in about 8 weeks. You’ll need to use it twice a day to get the best results, but once applied it’s pretty invisible and you can apply your usual brow products over the top. I have some skinny areas of my brows due to teenage over-plucking and this has really helped thicken them up. Worth every penny of the £37 price tag in my book.

What are your favourite brow products?

  3. Oooh, RapidBrow is interesting... I used some of my Latisse on my brows but didn't notice a difference. Love the Sephora brow pencils and Milani brow gel as well - highly recommend!

  6. I have exactly the same problem and until recently just didn't bother. A couple of years ago a friend and I had a little make over at space NK and I came away with a Nars Pencil that ss brilliant.. I now have eyebrows.. Yay
It's a very light sandy sort of shade but the pencil is now so well used I can no longer make out the shade. Some great other options for me to try here. Really like the sound of the Gosh defining brow Gel so might make a little purchase.

  7. I don't seem to be loyal to any particular product when it comes to brows - I'm currently using Maybelline Brow Satin and really liking it! xx
