While weekdays might mean lugging around a big bag of 'essentials' to and from London every day, at weekends I try to pare down the contents of my handbag in favour of a more streamlined approach.
At the moment my favourite weekend bag has to be my black Lulu Guinness bag, which reminds me a little of a classic Chanel chain handled bag, but with Lulu's quirky style. I bought this last year in the sale as I couldn't resist the lip print quilting! It's the perfect size for all my essentials and also doubles up nicely as an evening bag for a night on the town.
I've managed to trim myself down to just two lip products in this bag (my regular handbag has about 7, ahem.). Burt's Bees are one of my favourite for lip balms and this lightly tinted version gives a soft wash of pink along with a good amount of hydration. The Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint* is another lip product I don't need a mirror to apply - the tube might look bright, but on the lips it's just a 'my lips but better' colour.
I'm never without some blotting papers - I can't be bothered to carry around a full makeup repair kit, but these usually save the day mid-afternoon when I tend to get a bit shiny. My handbag sized hand cream is always a must-have, especially in winter as my hands tend to look like lizard skin if I don't re-apply every hour or so.
My phone is never far from my side, as is my travel card! I also like to leave my big wallet in my weekday handbag and stick to my Aspinal of London card holder over the weekend as it can hold my essential cards and some cash without weighing me down.
Last, but definitely not least, is my Lulu Guinness foldaway tote*. The patent red lips unzip completely and open out into a spotted tote bag, which is perfect for a trip to the shops or the supermarket. It stashes away nicely in my handbag and means I've got something stylish to lug back my shopping in after a trip to Tesco. And let's face it, anything that makes food shopping more exciting is never a bad thing!
Do you change up your handbag at the weekend? Would you like to see the contents of my week day bag?
