Kiko Modern Tribes Summer 15 Collection review

Another week and anther fantastic new launch from Kiko! Their latest limited edition collection – Modern Tribes – is all about a feminine, modern take on earthy, bold colours and tribal inspired designs.

Kiko Modern Tribes summer 2015 makeup collection

This is quite a large collection but with some absolute must-haves within it – the Tri-Bal Soul Baked blusher being one of them. This baked powder blusher combines three shades that can either be used alone or swirled together for a buildable flush of colour. I abolsutely love the wooden packaging to these – it’s so distinctive and really seems to fit the ‘tribal’ inspired theme of the collection. It does make them a little bulky, so these are probably an ‘at-home’ blusher rather than a handbag one, but trust me, you’re going to need at least one of the shades in your life!

There are three shades to choose from (I have 02 Mysterious Earth) so there’s something for all skintones to choose from. They’re quite light in terms of pigmentation, so you can build up colour quite easily and I find them best applied with a large fluffy brush. £14.90 each

If you fancy something a little more unusual to apply your makeup with, then the new Modern Tribe Face Brush will be right up your street. This ergonomically shaped brush fits in perfectly with the contours of your face and can be used for all kinds of powder products. It’s made up of synthetic bristles and is super soft and is something I can see becoming a firm staple in my makeup bag for the next few months. £14.90

The Free Spirit Lips and Cheeks pencils are also lovely – creamy formula pencils that can be used as both lip and cheek colours. I found these a lot easier to use on my lips than my cheeks – they’re quite hard to blend – but on the lips they give a really nice, semi-matte finish with good pigmentation. There are six shades to choose from and each comes with its own chubby pencil sharpener, so there’s no need to scrabble around trying to find one that fits! Nice touch Kiko. £8.90 each

Other bits in the new collection include some lovely creamy eye liners (the turquoise is amazing!!), rollerball fragrances, powder and cream foundations and a rather tasty looking baked bronzer. Prices range from £5.90 for the eye liners up to £17.90 for the baked bronzer so it’s all pretty affordable and I’d highlighy recommend picking up a few pieces from the collection, especially if you’ve not tried Kiko before!

Modern Tribes is available online from Kiko and in Kiko stores now.
