The elf valentine's challenge

Valentine's day is almost upon us, and whether you're planning to spend the evening with a special someone, a group of girlfriends, or a large gin and a box of chocolates, it's a good excuse to try out a new makeup look.

I was invited by makeup brand e.l.f to take part in their Valentine's blogger challenge - using only the selected e.l.f products provided, I had to create a makeup look for my chosen valentine event.

This year, I'll be spending the evening having a nice meal at home with my boyfriend, using it as a good excuse to eat a massive steak and if I have my way, a melt in the middle chocolate pudding. Along with both of those, I'll be using these lovely products to create the look below:

I've used the soft taupe and bronzy shades to create a subtle smokey eye, topped off with lashings of black mascara. The baked blusher gives a lovely soft finish to skin and almost works as a highlighter as well. I'm a big fan of pink nails, so this shade from the e.l.f collection has definitely gone down a treat and is super glossy (I'm hoping to get some matching coloured flowers if I'm lucky!) and a slick of pale pink lipstick completes the look.

I've been really impressed with the quality of the products, given their bargain prices. The eye shadow palette retails for £6 and is so versatile! I'll also be stocking up on more of the baked blushers in the future as I love the finish of this one.

What do you think of this look? What will you be wearing for Valentine's day?
