REN Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Balm and Micellar Water review

REN are one of my favourite skincare brands. I'm a long term fan of the Hydra Calm range, designed for sensitive skin, so was really excited about the launch of the Rosa Centifolia cleanser range.

Made up of 6 different types of cleansers, the Rosa Centifolia range provides gentle, but effective ways to cleanse, using rose at the heart of each.

The 3 in 1 cleansing water* is a gentle, rose water based makeup remover, similar to Bioderma. It has a very soft rose scent to it, and is best used on a cotton pad, swept over the face to remove makeup. I found it very effective at getting rid of my foundation and I've regularly been using this as a first cleanse, before moving on to the cleansing balm. It's also nice used as a gentle toner and is alcohol and soap free.

REN do say that it can also be used around the eyes to remove eye makeup, however I found it less effective at getting this off. I do wear a lot of eye makeup, which I think didn't help, so if you only wear a light amount of eye makeup, then this should be fine for you.

The No 1 Purity Cleansing Balm* is a really rich, oil based balm. To use, squeeze a small amount out of the tube, massage gently into the skin and then using a small amount of water, emulsify into a milk consistency. Rinse off using warm water and a flannel or muslin cloth.

I find that the balm is best used at night, as it's great for giving a really deep, but gentle cleanse and is very effective at removing all traces of makeup. It's also good for dry and sensitive skins, as it contains chamomile and pink violet leaf extract to soothe and calm redness and lecithin, which helps the skin to retain moisture.

For me, the balm is one of my favourites and I would happily repurchase once this tube runs out. The only small negative for me is that it's quite hard to squeeze out of the tube due to the thick texture, but that's something I can live with.

The 3 in 1 water costs £13 for 200ml and the Cleansing Balm is £23 for 100ml. They can be found in store at Liberty, Space NK and other REN stockists as well as direct from REN online.

Do you like the sound of these cleansers?

  1. The Cleansing Balm sounds gorgeous, although I'm not sure how well it'd be suited to my oily skin!
