Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

Philip Kingsley is one of the UK's leading tricologists, who designed a range of hair care to help with various hair issues and textures.

The Elasticizer* is a pre-shampoo treatment for dry, damaged, frizzy and/or limp hair. It's designed to add back moisture, suppleness and elasticity to hair without weighing it down. The first treatment of its kind (it was created for Audrey Hepburn!), it's won several awards over the years and I was really looking forward to seeing how it would work on my fine but frazzled hair.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

You use the Elasticizer in the same way as a treatment mask, only before you shampoo. Wet your hair thoroughly and apply the creamy textured Elasticizer to mid lengths and ends and comb through. You leave it on for around 10-20 minutes before washing off and shampooing as normal.

It felt a bit odd to be treating my hair before shampooing and I was concerned that I would wash away any of the benefits after I washed it out with my regular shampoo. I shouldn't have worried though as my hair was left feeling really soft, but looked like it had more volume when I dried it.

They recommend that you use this about once a week if you have processed fine hair like me, but for those with thicker hair it can be used up to twice a week. You should also avoid using the product for three days before and after any sort of chemical processing (colouring, Brazilian blowdrys etc.).

The more I've used the Elasticizer, the more I can see the benefits in my hair. It feels a bit bouncier and my ends are definitely less dry. All in all I'm really pleased with this product!

You can pick up Philip Kingsley products from Marks and Spencer beauty halls across the country as well as on the Philip Kingsley website. The Elasticizer starts at £3.95 for a 20ml trial size, up to £27.50 for a 150ml pot.

What do you think about this pre-shampoo treatment?
