Products that don't work for me #1

I love to give positive reviews, but sometimes you come across products that no matter how hard you try, they just don't work for you. I'm talking about two of those today.

Benefit They're Real mascara

This mascara is possibly one of the toughest things I've EVER tried to remove from my lashes. Even with eye make up remover, it takes a lot of scrubbing and I still end up with residue leftover. That aside, I also find it wet, and gives me really clumpy, spidery lashes, no matter how I try to apply it. I know most people love this mascara, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I definitely won't be repurchasing this one!

Dr Jart Water-Max Sleeping Mask*

This mask is designed as an overnight moisture treatment for dry skin. I love the light gel texture of it, however it seems to break my skin out almost immediately. It's such a shame, as the few times I've used it I've woken up with lovely soft skin, but also a few spots. As someone not prone to blemishes, if a product breaks me out like this, it doesn't get used again.

Have you tried either of these? What are your thoughts?

*This post contains PR samples. My views are honest as always.

  1. That's a realk shame about the mask, it sounds lovely.

I don't think I'm a 'They're real' convert either. I've got two samples from recent beauty boxes and I've used one a few times and, because I have naturally long lashes I think it's just Too much for me, plus I do prefer drier formulas.

As such I'm giving the unused sample away in my giveaway soon, at least that way someone else will have a chance to try it, and hopefully they'll be one of the people who love it :)

  3. I'm not a fan of They're Real either. It was so tough to remove it gave me dry & itchy skin around my eyes for a couple of weeks, horrible!

  4. I love the Benefit mascara but I agree it is pretty tough to remove. That's such a shame the mask breaks you out, it seems really nice.

  8. Wow, until now I've only heard good things about They're Real! I'm really keen to try it, but I'm less enthusiastic about the price tag! I need to try and get my hand on one of the sample sizes...well, maybe not judging by the feedback!

  10. They're Real mascara is horrible to use, I was so excited to try it and when I did I was so disappointed. The wand hurt my eyes to apply and my lashes looked really thin and weedy after I did.

And removing it?? It takes forever and again, hurts my eyes with all the rubbing.

Not sure what to do with it now - definitely not intending to use it again...

  11. I hated this mascara - clumpy, spidery lashes which just glued my lashes together. I am so glad I didn't follow the crowd and buy it - just waited for a sample in the magazine. I'd by crying otherwise... :/

  14. I've heard so many good things about the sleep mask but it's put me off a little that it breaks you out. & how stubborn is they're real?! I can shower in this stuff and it's literally untouched. I used to hate it for it's wetness too but it's dried up a little now and I actually really like it xx

  15. With you on They're Real. It did make my lashes look longer so I'll give it that, but the clean up at the end of the day and not being able to blink for five mins after application (ok that's a slight exaggeration) for fear of staining under my eyes and ruining the rest of my makeup is so not worth it!

  16. shame about the sleeping mask, I was tempted to buy this but decided against it as I have an abundance of other sleeping masks to use up first! I think I hoard sleeping masks haha.

  19. That sucks that the They're Real didn't work for you because it's definitely my favorite mascara. I don't have any problems getting it all the way off. Although I use baby wipes to remove my makeup. I know you shouldn't but every liquid makeup remover or makeup remover wipes make my eyes super sensitive and red and itchy.
