Real Techniques make some of the best value makeup brushes on the high street, so when I heard they were laucnhing a new range, I was really excited to see how these would compare to their current kits.
The new range consists of retractable brushes, perfect for popping in your handbag, without having to worry about product getting all over the lining. I've been testing out the Retractable Kabuki Brush*, which is designed to be used with a range of powder products.
The brush itself is quite large, and features slanted bristles which work fantastically for applying blusher or highlighter and also for when you're contouring. The bristles are very dense, and feel incredibly soft on the skin. They make it easy to get a soft dusting of powder, but you can also apply more pressure in order to get a more defined look on the face.
Like all Real Techniques brushes, these are cruelty free and are made of super-plush synthetic fibres. I found that the Kabuki Brush washed up really well - laying it flat to dry meant that no water ended up leaking down into the handle area and it dried reasonably quickly overnight.
The retractable element is a real bonus for me, as I don't always carry a proper makeup bag around, but like to have a brush with me for powder top ups throughout the day. I can now carry this brush with me without having to worry about product ending up all over the inside of my bag. The packaging feels very sturdy - the brush handle is made of metal and the lid is quite thick plastic, so they should hold up well to being carried around.
There's also a bronzing brush available as part of the range, which is slightly larger, and has a more flat head, so perfect for a big sweep of colour across the face.
The retractable range should be filtering into Boots stores as we speak and the Kabuki Brush costs £11.99, with the Bronzing Brush slightly more expensive at £12.99. I think these are excellent value, and can see myself buying the rest of the range as they launch!
Have you tried Real Techniques before? Do you like the look of these retractable brushes?
I cannot wait to try this!I'm hoping the Boots near me has these soon!

I love the idea of this I never take brushes out with me in fear of a spillage in my bag or them being bent out of shape! this is ideal for that :)

I don't really like retractable brushes (they always get stuck), but I love RT, ahh, the dilemma! :D x

This is perfect for travel! Sometimes you just want to bring a couple of bits like a brush and foundation or something and there's no point bringing a big makeup bag to hold one brush!

I believed good tools can determined the end result in getting beautified, OK skill helps too, I used to be so meticulous but 3 kids later not mixing my lip liner and eyebrow pencil is a personal victory, I been known to sport pink brows and brown lip lines.... Mags maggie
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome and I have the same thing with carrying brushes in my bag! I always get random patches of blush or bronzer on the inside.
