It doesn't have to be expensive though. If you're anything like me, you might have some unused sachets, travel sizes or even full size products knocking around at home. Why not use these to make yourself your own beauty advent calendar and use up your stash at the same time?
Get 24 sample sizes/sachets/stash items together |
Get some wrapping paper, scissors, pen, sellotape and paper to make labels with |
Write 24 numbered labels |
Wrap your goodies up individually and at random, stick a numbered label on to each item |
Pop them all in a Christmassy bag ready for 1st December |
Find 24 samples, sachets, unopened products. Mine are a mix of nail polishes, hair treatments, makeup, skincare samples and the sneaky bit of chocolate for good measure.
You'll need Sellotape, sticky labels, a pen, scissors and some wrapping paper.
Wrap up each of your chosen items, and set aside. Once they are all wrapped, number your stickers one to 24 and at random stick one to each of your wrapped up goodies.
Place in a Christmassy bag and put aside until December. On the 1st December, have a little rummage and find number one for your first surprise!
If you have a little bit of budget, you could always buy something special for day 24, or even a little treat for Christmas morning. It could also be a nice idea as a gift swap with a friend as then you'll both get lovely surprises each morning, without having to spend a fortune.
So that's my take on a homemade beauty advent calendar. What do you think of this idea? Will you be making one yourself?

My boyfriend actually did something really similar for me last year and this was one of the reasons why I started blogging, because I ended up with so much new stuff! He bought a wooden house advent calender from Waitrose and although it wasn't big enough to put the products in he put sweets in each day and when I opened it he then gave me that days gift. He got kind of carried away with buying the stuff for me though and some items were small and reasonably priced but several others were higher end and much more expensive. It was fab, I was thoroughly spoiled! x

I love this idea! I have all these samples that I haven't used yet so this is a great way to force me to use them, and get an extra surprise each day.
